Malik (5/31/04)

It's a vacation day, so I don't plan to update all that much...especially with all the reading I'm doing on figuring out the new features I can have for the site.  Not too mention all the La Pucelle I need to play (I've been neglecting it a little too much this weekend with finding a good host for the site and Mario Kart).  Anyway, it looks like my domain is registered at geek-asylum.com and this should be up in a couple days, and when that happens my contact info will be changing too to reflect the re-initialization of Geek-Asylum.

Anyway, La Pucelle will start to bitch-slap me if I don't give it some attention.  Later.

Well, I don't have too much to talk about today...not that nothing interesting is going on as much as I just spent way too much time updating every page on the site with the new contact information for Velveeta and myself.  Since I like to use spaghetti web programming rather than doing things the right way, that meant a lot of tedious work to do.  At least that's done and I can finally say I am feeling more like I'm at home.  Anyways, as I just said, I have new contact info with this new domain name, so if you feel like contacting me for whatever reason, I am now found at malik@geek-asylum.com, and Velveeta is now found at velveeta@geek-asylum.com.

I've still been plowing away at La Pucelle Tactics.  Both in game play and in terms of starting a long over due review.  For those who haven't been following my exploits lately; I was screwed over by my previous web host in far too many ways, and this caused a massive delay in getting things such as my review of LPT and a few issues of Malik's Bitchings written.  So, for the time being, I will just have to say; be patient and all will be resotred to it's proper balance soon enough.  I've also been playing way too much of Mario Kart Double Dash and a good amount of Project Gotham Racing 2...yeah, I know...they're both oldies, but like with Disgaea, I was a little late in joining the party.  Actually, I have had plenty of Mario Kart under my belt, but I finally bought my own copy, so I am going crazy with it.  As for Project Gotham 2...well, I just had a need for a slightly more serious racing title.  Needless to say, I plan to have some reviews of these titles up in the next week or two.

Anyways, I've spent a lot of time on the site for one day, so it's time I give LPT some affection before it gets too jealous.

Well, I have installed a few features to the site since I last posted.  I now give you all the internal search in case you want some help navigating my bitchy world.  also, to do this, I spent some time doing the one act I've neglected for far too long; each page now has a title.  I know...I should have done that to begin with, but I'm lazy and didn't have much of a need to do so before; so I guess after all the time I spent titling the pages last night I can say I should do things a little less half-assed.  Oh well...live and learn or whatever.

On the same note of being productive, I have my review of La Pucelle Tactics almost ready.  I need to get in a little editing, so I would say it'd be safe to expect the review tomorrow evening.  However, even after editing I think it's safe to safe that some of the review will be a bit on the confusing side.  I don't think I'm as much to blame as the fact that I like to be thorough in my reviews (I hate reviews that barely glance the game play in favor of the easy to explain eye- and ear-candy while barely touching the most important part of any gaming experience...how the damned thing handles), and La Pucelle Tactics has some really deep and, when you first start the game, very confusing game play.  So, I'm just giving some advance warning on that.  Anyway, LPT is one hell of an addicting experience that I cannot recommend deeply enough.  This and Disgaea are the two must have RPGs for tactical fans and fans of real RPGs...real as in full of game play and PLOT (that thing that Square seems to have forgotten in the years following FFIX (the last Square derived game with an intriguing plot) hitting the shelves.

Anyway, I have that whole editing thing to do and some work on my Malik's Bitchings column for this week (expect that Friday).  Not to mention how I need to spend some quality time with my beloved La Pucelle Tactics.  LPT treats me all so good, so I need to return the favor.

Today was just a crazy and hellish day for me, so after I get the La Pucelle Tactics review up, I'm cutting things short.  Normally I would find solace in taking out my frustrations about my real life by writing some stuff on the site, but not even this will help me tonight.  I just need to get in some Mario Kart...smack around Wario for a while with some red shells and watch him fly.  Well, I will have a new issue of Malik's Bitchings up tomorrow, but that's neither here nor now.  Anyway, check out the review, and enjoy.  If you haven't tried LPT and you are an RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to check it out (just buy it).  As a warning, my review can be a little confusing at times...for those who played the game, you should know why.  For those who haven't tried to awe-inspiring epic yet; well, the game has way too many features which are very easy to get confused by until you actually try the game.  So, when I tried to put these features into text, I was faced with the same problem the LPT's instruction manual faces; confusing speech.  So, bear with it, and check out the review.

Ok, I'll give you all one more thing, just because I'm in a nice mood...actually, it's because I'm too lazy to move my tired ass from my computer over to my couch to play some Double Dash...3 feet just seems like too much hassle to me right now.

MAJOR FABLE NEWS!  BOOYAH!

Malik

Malik (6/4/04)

Well, the first week of Geek-Asylum.com actually being at geek-asylum.com is drawing to a close.  So far, so good.  Plus, to make this week even better, the announcement of a release month for Fable is a good step to Lionhead renewing itself in my heart...assuming they don't pull a Brinkster (read my new Malik's Bitchings column to understand).  I hate it when people lie, but come September, I have hope that Lionhead will not be on my shitlist.  True, I've been disapointed before, and I always give in to having my hopes dashed at the end (except by Square franchises...I no longer have any expectations of them being anything better than mediocre).

Well, I'm still hacking my way through La Pucelle Tactics.  I have a bad habbit of checking too many message boards for the games I am currently addicted to.  Usually it pays off; like when I saw the info on how one must not play as a cloaked character with a great stealth score at the escape scene near the end of KOTOR (for those who are playing KOTOR and have not dealt with this...well, if your character of choice is cloaked at a certain scene, the other members of the party will keep "rolling" to see if they see said character, usually this would be Mission, and the game will not progress until this roll has been made...and if her stealth is too good to detect, your game will hang).  Unfortuantely reading the message boards for LPT has shed some light on the Giant Thing in chapter 8.  I won't spoil it for anyone who's playing LPT, but to get a secret bonus, you need some massive leveling up...massive.  So, that's what I'm doing on LPT; leveling like a mad mo'fo'.  Anyway, since I've finished editing Malik's Bitchings for the week, and I need to beat the Giant Thing, I'm off.
